PC-WARE appointed as exclusive Microsoft partner for pan-European E-Government "Digital Townhall” solution

Leipzig, 13/10/2006

Microsoft officially announced the launch of the pan-European eGovernment solution "Digital Townhall" as part of an EU Open Day hosted by the European Commission in Brussels on October 9-12, which brought together municipal and regional representatives from around Europe.

The "Digital Townhall" was developed by PC-WARE and Spanish based Spenta Public Sector, with PC-WARE contributing its "E-Government Starter Kit" to the overall project.

With the help of this cutting-edge solution, cities, towns or local government units are able to provide public services in an online format, thus complementing the existing "bricks-and-mortar" service portfolio offered by city halls and other administrative bodies. The application is capable of integrating all existing and future administrative procedures and making them available to citizens via an intuitive, user-friendly information portal. Thus, it is possible to transpose the full range of processes to a digital environment – consistently and as part of a fully integrated solution.

The jointly developed solution as well as the respective integration components for specialist procedures will be made available to all customers via "eris@" (European Regional Information Society Association), a platform designed on the basis of the Microsoft Solution Sharing Network.

"Cities and local authorities have to respond to the needs and wishes of the people they serve, which also means making their service portfolio available in an electronic format. The Microsoft Solution Sharing Network is a particularly suitable platform to meet these requirements. It facilitates the exchange of specific tools, solutions, best practices, ideas and experiences throughout Europe," said Jan Muehlfeit, Vice President for Corporate and Government Strategy Microsoft EMEA when interviewed at the event.

The new platform provides a perfect infrastructure for the pan-European exchange of knowledge relating to municipal eGovernment solutions, in addition to acting as a multiplier when it comes to nurturing and propagating eGovernment processes and structures. As an exclusive Microsoft partner, PC-WARE will be in charge of providing training and support for all customers and partners in EU states interested in the project, as well as being responsible for ensuring technological advancement.

"For PC-WARE as a pan-European E-Government Competence Centre, this platform represents the perfect addition to the company's existing branch network throughout Europe, and we are confident that it will further strengthen our position as a premier solution provider within the public sector," commented Dr. Knut Löschke, CEO of PC-WARE AG, in response to market rollout.
