Licensing Forms
Experience shows that companies do not make full use of their licensing rights. As a result, SPLA's pay per use mode lowers software costs in the long term. Within the framework of SPLA, there are two licence forms: Depending on individual benefit, the "leasing tariff" per subscriber or processor can be charged as follows:

Subscriber Access Licence (SAL)
A Subscriber Access Licence (SAL) is mandatory for each user to whom the software is made available and/or who is authorised to use the software. A separate server licence is not required. With the license “per user” the scaling is particularly simple. There is no licence fee for the server and the monthly user fee is constant. There can be any number of users, servers and installed terminals.
Processor Licence
(CPU)
An unlimited number of users may use the software for each licence. For the accounting “per processor”, the number of CPUs is the deciding factor; a processor licence is required per CPU. There are two kinds of CPU licences: unauthenticated and (authenticated) Processor. This method has proved itself for the simple measuring of user fees for accounting purposes, especially when there are ambiguities concerning the access to licences per Web.
